Phase 1 ARC Troopers retired, were killed in combat, or died of growth-acceleration towards the middle of the Clone Wars Era. Having learned their lesson, the Kaminoans succeeded in their second attempt at creating stable clone soldiers, generating 100 ARC troopers, designated the Alpha-class. A'den was the only ARC Trooper to have the rank of Sergeant, however, he wasn't an official ARC Sergeant and was an experimental Null Class ARC Trooper, who wore experimental Phase 1 armor. The Nulls' botched genes made them unstable and more violent and unruly than the Kaminoans had hoped for. Once they were deemed a failed project by the cloners, they were adopted and trained by Kal Skirata, who saved them from termination.
